How to convert LAS to XYZ

  1. Upload a LAS file, or try the synthetic LAS sample.
  2. Inspect the imported point cloud. XYZ is already selected.
  3. Click Convert cloud and download the coordinate text file.

Try an example

The sample has 1,000 points with colors, intensity and classification. The XYZ result has 1,000 rows and three coordinate columns; the other attributes are omitted.

Before you start

Up to 100 MB and 5,000,000 points are accepted. Scaled LAS coordinates are exported without reprojection or unit conversion. XYZ omits colors, intensity, classification, GPS time, return information, CRS and other metadata. It has no header or unit field.

Are the LAS coordinates converted to another coordinate system?

No. The source scale and offset are applied when reading coordinates, but the coordinate reference system and units are unchanged. Record that context separately.

Files stay in a temporary 2-hour session. Switching tools in this tab keeps your uploaded clouds and results. Read about file privacy.

Read the exported coordinates with their context

Three columns, one point per line

The download contains whitespace-separated X, Y and Z, with no header. Twelve decimal places are written, but this does not add accuracy to the source measurement. Check a few rows and the point count before importing the text elsewhere.

Preserve the context outside the XYZ file

XYZ does not record units, a coordinate reference system or LAS metadata. The site performs no reprojection or unit conversion. Keep the original file and record its coordinate context when sharing the text output.

Keep a PLY working copy when you need attributes

Choose PLY to retain supported colors, intensity and classification. An XYZ result can be previewed and downloaded but cannot be processed further here. Select the original imported working cloud to crop or subsample, then export that result.

Common questions

Can I upload the exported XYZ here again?

No. This website accepts PLY, LAS, LAZ and E57 input. Keep a PLY result when you need to continue processing later.

How can I reduce the output size?

Crop to the needed region or subsample the imported working cloud before exporting. Review the point-count change and retained detail; XYZ conversion alone is not a compression step.

Service limits: 100 MB per upload, 5,000,000 points per cloud, one running job, 2-hour sessions. E57 merges up to 64 scans using stored poses, with common RGB/intensity only. Registration and cloud-to-cloud distance are not available.
